How big should a scarf be?

There are two sizes for scarves. Small scarves that are approx. 50x50cm are well suited as tightly tied triangular scarves as well as for hair decoration. If you prefer it a little looser, opt for the larger version measuring 90x90cm.

Scarves are usually a little over 200 cm long, so you can wrap them single or double around your neck. There are more variations in the width. Thick knitted or woollen scarves are 30-40 cm wide. Thin cotton and pashmina scarves usually are about twice as wide. 

How do I clean scarves?

It depends on the material. Scarves and shawls made of silk or cashmere should be washed by hand. Wash them with lukewarm water and a mild detergent. Do not wring silk! Instead, squeeze the water out very gently and hang the scarf up to dry. But not in the blazing sun, which can cause the colours to fade. Cotton cloths as well as mixed fabrics can often be machine washed. Observe the manufacturer's specifications here!

How do I store scarves and shawls properly? 

Thin scarves and shawls tend to wrinkle. Therefore, folding them is not the best way to store them. It's better to roll up scarves and shawls. Fold it once and roll up the rectangle from one end. Smooth out the fabric again and again so that you do not make any creases in it. You can conveniently store the rolled up scarves in a drawer or box.
